Gathered around Prince Albert II, President of the Yacht Club of Monaco (YCM), the YCM community experienced an exceptional moment during the traditional YCM Awards – UBS Trophy ceremony. The evening was marked by themes of legacy, loyalty, and sporting excellence.

A Historic Victory in the Admiral’s Cup

The highlight of the evening: Pierre Casiraghi, Vice-President of the YCM, and Peter Harrison were named YCM Sailors of the Year for their triumph in the prestigious Admiral’s Cup. “This victory is obviously special. It holds meaning for all those who have tried to win the Admiral’s Cup and for those who have succeeded. I thank Peter for making this possible,” said the Monegasque sailor, visibly moved.

Paul Cayard: The Legend Continues

The evening’s special award honoured Paul Cayard, Star World Champion at 65, 37 years after his first title. “I am naturally very competitive. Winning at my age was very special. In the last race, we were 14th at the first mark. We made up the ground, finished 7th, and won the title,” said the American sailor, a Club member for 33 years.

YCM shines on the International Stage

Prince Albert II praised the Club’s international influence, driven by its sporting achievements, commitment to inclusive sailing, and pioneering role in luxury yachting. The SEA Index®, an environmental measurement tool developed by the YCM, is now used in around twenty Mediterranean ports, as well as in the Seychelles and the Caribbean. The Sovereign also announced a historic event: the participation of Tuiga and Viola in the celebrations of the 250th anniversary of the American Declaration of Independence. “A unique moment, reminding us that classic yachts carry a heritage that brings generations together and unites cultures.” “We are the guardians of a legacy and the builders of a more sustainable maritime future,” concluded the Sovereign
