Yacht Class n°24 (march-april-may 2021)
Custom Line – Ferretti Group
The Custom Line Navetta 30 opens a new chapter in the evolution of the range of composite displacement yachts of Ferretti Group’s flagship brand. For a unit of less than 30 metres, the new Navetta is characterized by an impressive habitability. The right balance between interior and exterior spaces, the omnipresent comfort equipment, the refined decoration, the different viewpoints on the landscape are an invitation to conviviality and contemplation.

At first glance, the Navetta 30 displays an harmonious profile, with stretched horizontal lines softening the vertical uprights between the decks. The smoked windows and the exterior design effects contribute to the perfect balance of shapes, while the rectangular portholes give the Navetta’s line an unusual momentum for this type of yacht. With a length of 28.43 metres, the Navetta 30 is the result of the collaboration between the Strategic Product Committee, headed by Piero Ferrari, and the Group’s Engineering Department, led by Michelangelo Casadei. The exterior design was carried out by Filippo Salvetti, a newcomer at Ferretti. As for the interiors, they were styled by two references in terms of design: Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel.
Outdoor areas on each decks
The decks with over two metres of headroom and the size of the exterior surfaces from stern to bow give an immediate feeling of space. The Navetta 30’s massive superstructures give an idea of her great habitability, with an evident integration and interconnection between interior and exterior.
The external spiral staircase connecting the upper deck to the flybridge embodies the stylistic synthesis of this boat, where modern materials such as visible carbon fibre are combined with more traditional ones like steel and teak. The result is a total harmony between the furniture finishing and the design solutions of the entire yacht.
The sundeck is divided into two areas: the saloon, which boasts a large custom-made sofa/sunbed by Citterio and Viel, in line with the upper deck and cockpit, and a bar with sea-facing seating. This level can be customized with freestanding furniture and protected by a bimini. One level below the flybridge, the upper deck has a 40 m2 terrace offering several equipment options: saloon, deckchairs or dining table. Two wide and safe side decks lead to the foredeck and its very convivial lounge: a sofa for six, two sunloungers and a coffee table for snacks. This spot will be appreciated in navigation, but also at anchor or in port. Now let’s head to the stern to test the DMT (Dual Mode Transom) system patented by Ferretti Group: the transom, like a tailgate, lifts up to reveal the garage housing the Williams SportJet 435 tender and a jet-ski. After the easy launch of those, a floor unfolds to offer a beach area with a swim platform. With almost 100 m2 of outdoor spaces designed for the comfort of passengers, the Navetta 30 can boast to be, at least in this respect, very friendly. Let’s now assess the interior layout, a priori just as pleasant and ergonomic.
Five highly-equipped vast cabins
Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel, famous designers and standard-bearers of Italian design in the world, have focused on the interior layouts, optimizing all the volumes and a functional development of all the available space.
The interiors of Navetta 30 are thus distributed on three decks and occupy an overall living area of 210 m2. Regarding sleeping accommodation, the Navetta 30 offers five cabins for ten passengers: the master suite on the main deck and four double cabins belowdecks.
On the main deck, the cockpit features sliding glass panels opening entirely onto a very welcoming saloon. Its large sofa and two armchairs provide eight seats from where guest can enjoy the panoramic sea view with a certain delight.
The teak staircase connecting the main deck to the lower and upper decks is a high-flying architectural element that takes advantage of the play of light, illuminating the steps from different angles and giving a shaded appearance to the entire structure. The master suite of 37 m2 is located forward on the main deck, offering perfect privacy to the owner and also a complimentary sea view. The central bed with curved lines is the centerpiece. This master has the same decoration as the saloon with a teak-covered floor. There is a successful combination of colors, the lighter shades of the ceilings and the marine tones of the furniture. The insertion of details in noble materials creates a refined and luxurious environment. The Microframa mosaic created especially by Micromosaico for this Navetta 30 beautifies the master bathroom. The main deck also houses between the master and the saloon/dining area a professional kitchen by Ernestomeda, equipped with top-of-the-range equipment.
Let’s leave this level to take refuge on the upper deck which, in addition to a terrace and dining area (ten guests), offers a 25 m2 interior, well-lit by natural light, that will accommodate a lounge or dining area. Again, we are on board a semi-custom and the shipyard meets the wishes of the client… Guests are housed in four cabins, of approximately the same size (17m2), on the lower deck: two doubles, called VIP, and two twins, each with en suite and dressing room.
Three engine configurations with shaft lines
This first Custom Line Navetta 30 is fitted with twin 1 000 hp MAN V8 diesel engines that power her up to 14 knots, according to the yard’s figures. During our sea trial, we reached this speed with the wind at our back. With a headwind, we lost one and a half knots. At nearly 10 knots, she has a range of 1 800 miles. Other engine configurations are available: MAN V8 with 800 hp, CAT C18 with 1 150 hp and MAN V8 with 1 200 hp. These last two options allows the yacht to reach the maximum speed of 15 knots.
The hull design developed by Ferretti Group Engineering with CFD programmes, has particularly slim sections at the stern and offers excellent results in terms of fuel savings. She is equipped with stabilizing fins and a gyroscopic Seakeeper stabilizer. Thanks to the new damping coupling on the propulsion line and an effective soundproofing, from the ceilings to the floating floor, there is minimal transmission of sound from the engine room to the other environments, with values between 48 and 62 dbA.
The wheelhouse located forward of the upper deck is fitted with the Naviop-Simrad Loop system, which integrates propulsion management, navigation and on-board monitoring into a single, truly intuitive interface, and has, on this unit, six 24-inch touchscreens (the standard is only 16-inch).
Many qualities must be recognized in this brand-new Custom Line displacement yacht, whose timeless yet elegant profile has already found its place in the selective world of sophisticated yachting.
