Pershing – Ferretti Group

The Pershing GTX80 is sure to turn heads with her contemporary, sporty and charming design, thanks to the Ferretti Group’s in-house design team and the Vallicelli Design agency. However, it is also worth highlighting the care taken in designing the fittings to ensure passenger satisfaction at any time of the day or night.

The Pershing brand, one of the flagships of the Ferretti group, has built a solid reputation for designing yachts that are always at the cutting edge of innovation, particularly in terms of design and comfort on board. With the GTX series, this approach is once again underlined by yachts that are both sporty and welcoming, and easy to live with both at sea and at anchor. The GTX80 is at the heart of a range that began with the GTX116 and has been extended with the GTX70. In terms of look, the Ferretti Group’s product strategy committee drew on the talent of the Vallicelli Design agency to create, in the tradition of the 116, a dynamic yacht with a metallic grey hull, an almost vertical bow, a flowing arch supporting the flybridge and a long hull porthole. But this apparent quest for performance does not hide another equally essential quest, that of the pleasure of life on board.

A 40 m² beach club

As soon as you see the stern, it is clear that the builder has taken this aspect into account. Though seemingly innocuous, with her wide transom flanked by two staircases leading up to the cockpit, one has to wait for the two side decks to open (an extra 8 m in width!) to fully grasp the dimensions: the beach club reaches 40 m2. The aft section supports a tender or jetski and can be lowered for easy launching. The cockpit, which overlooks this space dedicated to water sports, is welcoming with its bench seat, a table that can be enlarged as the needs of the day dictate, and a sofa close to the cockpit. The roof canopy provides welcome shade in the hottest weather. A large sliding glass door, combined with a retractable bay window, provides easy access and a clear view when entering the Pershing GTX80. On the port side, you find immediately the galley, which, without being intrusive, has a functional layout that puts it at the centre of attention, whatever the activity at the time. With a counter surrounding it on two sides, it is sure to be popular with passengers – stools are available – while the cook will appreciate working without being isolated, while enjoying the view all around the boat.

An attractive cockpit

Moving forward a little, it is worth noting the quality of the design, which provides an abundance of light and, by reciprocity, an unhindered view of the environment. The artificial lighting has also been the subject of a fine design study: lines of LEDs criss-cross the ceiling to create vanishing lines that extend the view into the distance. The same patterns can also be found on the floorboards. Combined with modern furnishings, the atmosphere is one of quality and warmth. A vast sofa occupies the right-hand side of the saloon, although it can be replaced on request by a table seating eight. Up front, the cockpit has been designed down to the smallest detail. Sitting under a sunroof (electrically operated and adjustable, it allows the cabin to be ventilated), the captain and one passenger enjoy two very attractive armchairs, with comfortable seats, padded armrests and footrests, facing three 24″ screens to manage all the technical aspects of the Pershing GTX80 at their fingertips. The yacht is steered via a steering wheel, but can also benefit from the invaluable assistance of a joystick and thrusters. The three Volvo Penta D13 IPS1350 diesel engines, with a total of 3,000 hp, can be tamed with ease to propel this powerful yacht at 34 knots. To increase the range (300 miles at 28 knots, her cruising speed), it will no doubt be reasonable to adopt a more moderate speed.

User-friendly outdoor spaces

One element of comfort, as well as safety, is the presence of two side doors in the wheelhouse: they facilitate communication and circulation for the skipper. They make it easier for the skipper to communicate and move around, so he can quickly reach the foredeck where the anchor tackle is located at the bow. Passengers, for their part, are undoubtedly more attracted by the presence of a saloon with a central telescopic table to create a good-sized solarium. Four carbon masts can be set up in a matter of moments to create a shady sail over this area. Return to the cockpit and take the steps up to the highest level of the Pershing GTX80, known as the Sportbridge. This open-air area covers 23 m2 and includes a helm station – just as complete as the main one, but with the added pleasure of hair blowing in the wind – a kitchenette and a dining area, all protected by an optional carbon hard-top. An inevitable solarium completes the terrace, the perfect place to meet and socialise.

A contemporary interior atmosphere

A few steps in the interior saloon lead up to the cabins. The owner’s cabin occupies the entire width in the centre of the Pershing GTX80, benefiting from the light provided by the two side windows. The atmosphere is also contemporary, with the same lighting treatment and the use of beautifully treated materials (leather, carpet, fabrics, etc.). The layout is traditional, with a central double bed, sofa and desk on both sides, and a shower room aft, forming a screen with the engine room. Towards the bow, there is a beautiful VIP cabin with en suite shower room, benefiting from the hull portholes to bring in more light. Two cabins with single beds and two bathrooms complete the accommodation for guests, while two crew members have a cabin with bunk beds and bathroom.
