Yacht Class n°42 (Sept-Oct-Nov 2025)
At the beginning of July, Marina Genova, one of the most popular ports in the Mediterranean for superyachts, joined the Superyacht Eco Association – SEA Index, an equally important step for both parties. After the ports of Monaco (Port Hercule, Fontvieille, Cala del Forte, Yacht Club de Monaco Marina), France (Bonifacio Marina, Menton, 8 ports of Nice Métropole, Antibes Port Vauban & Gallice, Vieux Port de Golfe-Juan, Saint-Tropez) and even the Seychelles (Port Victoria and Eden Marina), it is a new attractive destination that adds to this network focused on the preservation of the environment in yachting activities. In this sense, Marina Genova can pride itself of state-of-the-art facilities for the reception of superyachts up to 130 m: a photovoltaic system (500 MWh produced and 270 tons of CO2 saved each year); two fast marine recharging stations (to promote sustainable navigation in the nearby marine protected areas of Portofino, Cinque Terre, etc.); six charging stations for electric cars in the large parking lot; five Seabin devices to improve micro plastic collection; the distribution of next-generation clean energy fuels. In the presence of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, President of the Yacht Club de Monaco (YCM), Bernard d’Alessandri, President of SEA Index and Secretary General of the YCM said: “We are delighted to welcome Marina Genova to our international network of ports and marinas committed to climate-friendly yachting.” As for Giuseppe Pappalardo, managing director of Marina Genova, confirmed this strong involvement: “We are committed to encouraging and facilitating the certification of all boats that are docked year-round in our marina, reinforcing thereby our commitment to sustainable boating practices.” An approach to be welcomed, shared by this alliance of ports focused on reducing CO2 emissions
