Beyond its nautical prestige, the Club also thrives as a lively social hub. Housed in its historic main clubhouse, members enjoy a rich calendar of events, from exclusive meetings to elegant social and business gatherings, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Saronic Gulf, the Acropolis, and the whole of Athens. Among the ocean races and dinghy regattas organised almost every weekend, three events certainly stand out. The Spetses Classic Yacht Regatta returns for its 13th edition from 25th to 28th June. A symbol of maritime elegance, this popular regatta celebrates Greece’s maritime history with a fleet of classic wooden yachts, timeless traditional sailing boats, and classic dinghy racers. Another highlight of the 2025 racing calendar is the Cyclades Cup – Antiparos, which takes place from 12th to 15th June 2025. Designed for yachts over 30 metres and featuring a 90ft racing class as well as a Maxi class, this rising star of the superyacht circuit made a successful debut last year. Co-organised by the Yacht Club of Greece with the Cyclades Cup organisation and supported by the SuperYacht Racing Association and the ORC, the event features three competition classes inspired by ancient Greek mythology: the Apollo Class for majestic yachts, the Skyphian Class for performance-oriented vessels, and the Meltemi Class for elegant and fast sloops. With 11 yachts taking part in 2024, we expect even greater participation in 2025, with 15 yachts already registered. Later in the season, the 58th Andros International Yacht Race – John B. Goulandris, from 28th to 31st August 2025, promises exciting offshore racing. It is one of Greece’s most challenging and historic yachting competitions, which pushes both crew and craft to their limits in a test of endurance and seamanship.

SOCIETE NAUTIQUE DE GENEVE (SNG)

Inauguration of the Ylliam Lighthouse

The Ylliam lighthouse was inaugurated on 6th May 2025 at the Société Nautique de Genève. The structure, designed by Geneva architects Bureau, now symbolically marks the entrance to Geneva’s harbour. Over the past eight years, Geneva’s harbour has in fact undergone a profound metamorphosis, with the creation of the Eaux-Vives beach, the development of the Quai de Cologny and the extension of the Port Noir. Inaugurated in the company of representatives of the Société Nautique de Genève and the cantonal and municipal authorities, the Ylliam lighthouse puts the finishing touches to the work begun in 2017. Made of a light metal structure, with thin cables that preserve the view and give the whole layout its airy, light feel, it rises to 21 metres. It is also topped by a low-energy diode lantern, which can be lowered manually to facilitate maintenance. Needless to say that the Société Nautique de Genève is extremely proud to inaugurate this lighthouse and to make it available to all users of Lake Geneva. Cascais, known for its unpredictable weather and demanding sailing conditions, lived up to its reputation, and then some. Spain dominated the first three places in the competition. ESP 1214 – HSN SAILING TEAM, took the top step of the podium and won the title of Corinthian 2025 European Champion. Behind them, ESP 1706 – HANG TEN took second place, while ESP 1419 – BODEGA CAN MARLES completed the top three. This first edition of the J/70 Corinthian European Championship was more than a regatta — it was a tale of resilience, unity, and the raw beauty of competitive sailing. From heroism in the sun to strategy forged in the storm, every moment reflected the soul of Corinthian racing. However, it is precisely this wildness that gives the Cascais triumph its flavour. The 2025 championship will be remembered not just for the boats and the results, but also for the spirit — the roar of the wind, the crash of the swell, and the shared heartbeat of 54 Corinthian teams chasing the horizon. Ideal wind conditions enabled the race committee, led by Pere Sarquella, to complete the 12 races scheduled, providing a thrilling conclusion to the Barcelona Spring Series. The third and final race saw a fierce battle between Noticia, HSN Sailing Team, and HangTen-Hnos. The J70 season continues in Vigo and Barcelona. With the Barcelona Spring Series over, the national J70 season continued with the Atlantic Championship in Vigo (13th-14th May), followed by the prestigious BMW Conde de Godó Trophy in Barcelona (30th May-1st June), which once again includes the Women’s Cup for all-female J70 teams.
