Dagnino \/ Mus\u00e9e Oc\u00e9anographique de Monaco<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Raising awareness of the rising generations on the importance of preserving the marine ecosystem to make them ambassadors of the ocean. This is the mission of “Snapper for all”, a contest launched in 2014 on the initiative of the Oceanographic Institute and the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation for students from priority education or with disabilities. This sixth edition featured seven classes, selected by the teams of the Oceanographic Museum, in collaboration with the representatives of the French and Monegasque national educational system. Their mission? Produce a five-minute video report on the preservation of ecosystems and their biodiversity. A long-term task for these little snappers (in reference to both the fish, and the South African expression used for a child who is a bit of a rascal) that began at the end of 2018 with a day of immersion and awareness at the Oceanographic Museum. Backstages, nursery\u2026 all seven classes were given a grand tour, to give them a better understanding of their subject and, above all, provide them with the material they needed for their reportage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Each video was then assessed by a panel of representatives of the National educational system and of the Oceanographic Museum, and personalities from the image, media and sea sectors. Three “Coup de Coeur” were awarded to the Lyc\u00e9e Technique et H\u00f4telier (Monaco), Mont Chevalier School (Cannes) and Ren\u00e9 Arziari School (Nice). This year’s edition was won by the fourth-grade class of the Aubanel School in Frejus. The twenty-something young people were offered a two-day discovery stay in mid-June, including of course some sightseeing in Monaco, but above all a beautiful immersion in the marine world, with an outing on the IMOCA 60 Malizia II in the company of this edition’s godfather, Borris Herrman, and Pierre Casiraghi. They also received a sea rescue training at the Centre de Sauvetage Aquatique et de Plong\u00e9e de Monaco. Their stay ended with the traditional award ceremony at the Oceanographic Museum, in the presence of the partners and Gareth Wittstock, general secretary of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation.
