While the Ocean range was launched in 2020 with the 90, 2023 marks its first Enclosed version (fully protected or enclosed), as well as the release of the 82-foot model. It was therefore only natural to see the Enclosed version of the Ocean 82 arrive at the last Cannes Yachting Festival. And the result, now before our eyes, is eye-catching, to say the least. From the outside, the silhouette is as sculptural, imposing and assertive as ever. The major difference is at the top, on the upper deck, which we shall come back to later. Once on board via the aft platform, one can appreciate a large area for access to the sea, whether for launching water sports equipment or for swimming.<\/p>\n\n
Teak conveys an immediate feeling of relaxation. A garage provides storage for all nautical equipment, as well as mooring lines and fenders. A few steps lead to the main deck, which has been carefully designed in terms of layout, quality upholstery and other fabrics, demonstrating a special attention to life on board. The main deck is designed to be very sociable along its entire length. An outdoor lounge at the stern, a large L-shaped sofa welcoming passengers as they enter the cockpit, an open kitchen at midship, and, a little further forward, a round table for eight guests are just a few examples. A heavy, secure glass wall separates the interior from the bow. This little nest is surrounded by high bulwarks and features a dining area, facing seats and two telescopic tables that can be used to transform the benches into a solarium. During manoeuvres, the crew can move quickly and easily around the deck thanks to the wide gangways, which make it safe to walk around. It should be noted that the bulwarks have large glass openings that allow the sea to enter the boat \u2013 visually, at least! Back on the main deck, one can point out a transparent staircase leading to the lower deck. The atmosphere changes here, as thick carpet replaces the parquet flooring and the succession of cabins invites discretion and rest. At the very front is a full-width cabin dominated by white and wood panelling, both in the furniture and the adjoining bathroom. The standard is truly in keeping with the rest of the vessel: ambient noise is reduced, plenty of storage space is provided and the lighting is skilfully controlled. A twin cabin and a double cabin are located slightly forward of the centre of the boat, while the master cabin occupies the central space. Large portholes, a spacious bathroom and a beautiful desk are just some of her features. The lower deck ends with the crew quarters, consisting of two beds, and the engine room.<\/p>\n\n
Let’s go back up the stairs and head for the upper deck. We arrive directly at the helm station and its single seat. Peripheral vision, easy-to-read instruments, ergonomic chair… Everything is characteristic of a wheelhouse designed for long-distance sailing. This is reflected in the large watch bench located just behind, the heavy doors leading outside, and the opening in the hardtop to let in light and provide additional ventilation. The interior space is completed by a sofa facing a multimedia corner. Designed to withstand adverse conditions, passengers can enjoy a direct view of the navigation and share an experience that is always greatly appreciated. To reach the bow and its C-shaped bench seat, passengers and crew can use the gangways, which are also equipped with very high bulwarks and sturdy handrails. The rear of the upper deck also features comfortable seating where passengers can enjoy meals in an outdoor kitchen area, shaded by an electrically operated awning if required. While the appearance of the Sunseeker 82 Enclosed affirms her presence and seaworthiness, she clearly claims to be a deep-sea vessel. The height of the freeboards, perfectly secure circulation and fully enclosed wheelhouse reflect a design conceived for long voyages in complete control.<\/p>\n\n<\/figure>\n\n
