Do little, but do it well. That could be the motto of boat builder Maiora, a member of the Next Yacht Group, which develops only a small range of four models. Two of them bear the name Exuma: a 42-metre flagship and the one we are interested in today, the Maiora 36 Exuma, with an overall length of 36.90 metres. These two models are characterised first and foremost by their design, created by the Quartostile agency, and by their resolutely modern and clean lines: a vertical bow with slender water intakes, a set of horizontal lines alternating the white of the hull and upper deck with the black of the hull portholes, the main deck windows and the upper deck superstructures. This contemporary approach results in a design that combines sportiness and liveability in equal measure. The name Exuma refers, of course, to the Exumas, an idyllic archipelago in the Bahamas, which the Maiora 36’s shallow draught (1.45 m) allows you to visit. These initial features explain the success of this model, of which five have already been sold.<\/p>\n\n
Another explanation for this success, as well as for the limited draught, lies in the propulsion system chosen. The three MAN V12 diesel engines, each with 2,000 hp, are combined with two waterjets and a central booster. This choice contributes to a top speed of 33 knots, thanks to increased efficiency \u2013 the range is 1,150 miles at 10 knots \u2013 combined with almost complete absence of noise and vibration and increased manoeuvrability. What’s more, for exploring idyllic anchorages or transferring passengers to and from shore, the Maiora 36 Exuma can carry two tenders, including a 6.25 m Williams, and water toys. Let’s stay close to the water as we discover the rear access. The generously sized platform features a large solarium and, in a detail that is as aesthetic as it is comfortable, the beautiful woodwork on the bulwarks along the flights of steps creates two elegant chaise longues. The excellence of the carpentry can be found in other areas of the boat, particularly in the cabins and saloon, where the junction between the bulkhead and ceiling is softened by a refined curve.<\/p>\n\n
Let’s now go up to the main deck to discover a lounge that is partially protected from the heat of the sun and whose extension into the interior lounge seems most natural, given the wide opening between the two. The d\u00e9cor, designed by Acube Design, is in keeping with the woodwork already described: the soft harmony of colours is highlighted by the judicious use of curves found in the frames of the bay windows, certain pieces of furniture and other decorative elements. Natural materials also contribute to this feeling of warmth and protection. A door on the port side leads to a utility room adjoining the professionally equipped kitchen. On the starboard side, after passing through a small lobby \u2013 it should be noted that guests and crew members use different circulation routes \u2013 you enter the owners’ quarters: an office, storage space for Mr and Mrs, a double bathroom with a central shower cubicle, corner sofas and a king-size bed. Nothing seems to be missing. Especially when you add to this a panoramic view.<\/p>\n\n
The upper deck features convivial spaces that are sure to be highly sought after. At the rear, a large terrace is equipped with deckchairs, armchairs, a coffee table and a bar for moments of tranquillity. Towards the bow, the atmosphere becomes more festive around a swimming pool, large facing benches and an astonishing net stretched over the main deck’s mooring equipment: perfect for enjoying the gentle rocking of the waves. In the centre, the captain has a well-equipped wheelhouse with two benches on either side of the pilot’s chair, ideal for savouring the thrill of sailing. Just behind the helm, a lounge and dining room can be transformed into a cosy cocoon or an open-air space, depending on the weather, thanks to openings on three sides. Don’t miss climbing up to the \u201ceagle’s nest\u201d on the upper level: here, privacy is at its maximum and the sun deck, which allows for nights under the stars, offers an incredible 360-degree view.<\/p>\n\n
It is difficult to leave this panorama behind and descend three levels to the lower deck. Passengers settle into four cabins (one super VIP, one VIP and two doubles, each with its own bathroom), whose atmosphere and d\u00e9cor are in keeping with the owners’ suite. Finally, the crew quarters are located towards the bow and include a galley, a dining area, a cabin for the captain and two cabins for two crew members each, with as many bathrooms. As for her sailing qualities \u2013 maximum speed should not overshadow the increased range achieved by reducing throttle \u2013 or her comfort, studied down to the smallest detail, the Maiora 36 Exuma is seductive, offering her passengers multiple activity areas that can be varied depending on the moment of the cruise… which is sure to be a success.<\/p>\n\n<\/figure>\n\n
