It is a silhouette that turns heads when she passes by. Although her presence is relatively discreet among the vessels at a show such as the Monaco Yacht Show, her hull design stands out from the crowd. And with good reason. At first glance and from the side, the BGM 75 may look like a simple 22-metre yacht, but it is the bow that really catches the eye. A few steps towards the bow confirm that this is indeed a multihull with a fully decked bow. This is surprising, as the rest of the boat is in every way similar to monohull motorboats. This is a testament to the audacity and vision of the shipyard’s creator since 2004, Luca Santella, an expert in architecture and an accomplished sailor who competed twice in the Olympic sailing events in 1988 and 1992. Today, a few years after its acquisition by the Sanlorenzo group in 2018, Bluegame has four ranges: BG with the 42, 54 and 74 foot models, the BGX 63, 73 and 83, BGF 45, and finally BGM with this 75 foot model. It is hard to resist the urge to climb aboard and discover this unique catamaran for yourself.<\/p>\n\n
Boarding is via a large aft deck, the central part of which is a platform dedicated to launching a tender or for water sports. Teak is omnipresent, even inside the folding bulwarks, transforming the relaxation area into a superb, ultra-sleek setting. In front of this, a black glass window conceals access to the tender garage, engine room and guest cabins. A small staircase leads to the main deck, securely framed by stainless steel railings that surround the entire space, and whose canopy ceiling is also entirely clad in teak. Once inside, via a large black sliding door and a perfectly flat transition between the two spaces, the saloon reveals two facing benches, backed by large glass surfaces. The panelling is assembled asymmetrically and the beige tones of the contemporary furniture blend perfectly with the wooden floor in a minimalist style to great effect. Ahead of the companionways, the galley is located on the starboard side and a helm station with a discreet wheel is positioned at the very front of the saloon. On this main deck, the gangways lead to the fully decked bow, which is also clad in teak. It features an impressive solarium that can accommodate up to eight people facing in the direction of travel. Back in the cockpit, it is time to take the stairs leading to the interior of the hulls where the cabins are located. Depending on the version chosen, the one designed by Zuccon or the one designed by Piero Lissoni, the lower deck will have two or three guest cabins. The design of this unit is by Bernardo Zuccon, who has placed two guest cabins on the port side and one on the starboard side with their respective bathrooms, as well as three berths for the crew on the aft starboard side.<\/p>\n\n
The ergonomics and layout of the guest cabins are remarkable, with the design team perfectly integrating the bed layout to match the natural shapes of the hull. There is plenty of wood panelling, creating a truly warm and welcoming atmosphere. At the very front of this lower deck, the owner’s cabin spans the entire width of the boat, offering the very large volumes typical of a multihull. One can point out that a high level of comfort and attention to detail in the finishes prevail, typical of large shipyards such as Bluegame and Sanlorenzo. The stairs, also clad in teak, lead to the upper deck where a bar located behind the helm station will refresh guests, whether they are seated at the table, gathered on the sofa or relaxing on the sun loungers. The imposing hardtop provides excellent shade over almost the entire exposed area. When it comes to navigation, the BGM 75 can count on the power of her two Volvo IPS D13 engines to comfortably reach 20 knots, as well as two Smartgyro gyroscopic stabilisers for smooth sailing in all conditions. A success both aesthetically and functionally, which will appeal to multihull enthusiasts and monohull aficionados alike.<\/p>\n\n<\/figure>\n\n
