Privileged access aboard some of the world’s most beautiful yachts offers the chance to get a closer look at the future glories of the seas, and to open doors reserved for the “Happy Few”. Sometimes a vessel, like this Custom Line 50, creates a kind of visual certainty from the first moment you step aboard. An atmosphere, a composition, one detail and then another, a design and a colour and light arrangement that instantly resonate.But first, let’s take a look at the Custom Line 50’s origins, because she is the very first aluminium yacht in the Custom Line, built by the world leader in this sector: Ferretti Group. While the shipyard is no stranger to this kind of project \u2014 brands from the group such as CRN, Riva, and Pershing have already successfully used this type of construction \u2014 the Ancona-based Italians wanted to offer greater flexibility and functionality during the creation of the vessel. When asked about the benefits of this alloy, Giordano Pellacani, Chief Sales Officer Custom Business at Ferretti Group, points out: “Aluminium represents a strategic advantage, especially on the American market. But it also offers greater flexibility in terms of design, and the integration of advanced solutions such as the full-beam owner’s cabin on the upper deck. With improved energy efficiency and increased range, the yacht has a top speed of 16 knots and a range of about 4 500 nautical miles at 10 knots cruising speed”, powered by twin 1\u00a0800 hp Caterpillar diesels. Three times less dense than steel, aluminium is lighter, more resistant to impact and has nautical qualities such as stability or a reduced draught (2.2 m here), allowing access to shallow waters and better coastal exploration.<\/p>\n\n
After the Planante and Navetta series, Custom Line is now creating a brand-new range in aluminium. This is a sign of the shipyard’s shift towards a new approach to high-level shipbuilding in the 50\u00a0m yacht segment up to 500 GT. This profound change in the construction, and ultimately in the sailing programme, is not immediately obvious. Visually, she remains a vessel in the spirit of Ferretti superyachts, with a classic silhouette that does not deviate from her predecessors. With a length of almost 50\u00a0m and a beam of 9.60\u00a0m, the Custom Line 50 offers 800\u00a0m2 of indoor accommodation on four decks and 324\u00a0m2 of outdoors. The exterior was designed by Filippo Salvetti, and instead of the traditional wheelhouse, she offers an innovative upper deck dedicated to the owners, a feature usually found on yachts over 60 metres. This 75\u00a0m2 suite, the project’s real starting point, is surrounded by huge glass panels offering a privileged 180\u00ba view of the sea. Beyond the figures, the prevailing sense of serenity lies in the colour combination and subtle arrangement of furnishings designed by Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel of ACPV Architects. One example is this bed placed in the centre of the cabin, creating a clear division between the sleeping area and the dressing room. Harmony and elegance are omnipresent, thanks to the Canaletto walnut flooring and the subtle use of leather and white lacquer<\/p>\n\n
A truly beautiful achievement, enhanced by the en-suite with Crema d\u2019Orcia marble walls. Equally stunning are the three-dimensional grooved walls that can be found in many areas. When asked about this meticulous work, Patricia Viel explains: “The owner\u2019s suite guided the project, both in terms of layout and furnishings, as well as composition and style solutions. On the Custom Line 50, decoration can be seen, touched and captivates passengers with its delicacy and subtle balance. A luxury of hidden materials, designed to gradually reveal themselves and elevate the on-board experience, where noble textures express themselves with subtlety to better enhance the aesthetics in every detail. Forward the master, a private terrace and sunbathing area complete this oasis of tranquillity. The sundeck offers a more sociable space, perfect for gathering around the American bar or relax in the small pool at the rear. Meanwhile, the main deck accommodates the wheelhouse and the large salon, where up to 12 people can enjoy a meal together. All with the same understated style and materials, including the Tuscan white Calacatta marble tables, the walls covered in ivory-coloured wallpaper designed by Philipp Jeffries, and Alcantara, designed to reduce noise on board. The central staircase leading to the lower deck features an original cladding made of decorative hot-pressed textile wall panels, also designed to improve the yacht’s soundproofing. Four cabins – two VIP and two guest – are located below the waterline. Each has a headroom of over two metres and an elegant floor-to-ceiling walnut veneer. The exterior of the Custom Line 50 offers a series of panoramic terraces and a great deal of fluidity between spaces. The two-story beach club is just one example of this mobility. With this first aluminium construction by Custom Line, Ferretti Group has created a highly accomplished unit, in terms of design, decoration and layout.
