Yacht Class n°42 (Sept-Oct-Nov 2025)

Majesty Yachts – Gulf Craft

The Emirati manufacturer Gulf Craft, through its brand Majesty, has become a key player in the superyacht market and, with this Majesty 120, all the attributes of this universe are gathered in a sober and classic style.

As a member of the Gulf Craft group, which also includes the Nomad, Oryx and Silver Cat brands, Majesty Yachts has quickly established itself in the world of yachts (its range ranges from 60 to 72 feet) and superyachts whose Collection extends from 100 Terrace to 175. It does not hide his development ambitions either with the arrival, or rather the return, of Erwin Bamps as CEO, a position he had already held from 2009 to 2019. The Emirati shipyard, which has been in existence for more than four decades, offers units that, like the Majesty 120, have “majestic” lines that should, thanks to a certain classicism, pass the test of time successfully. This four-decker, including the sundeck, presents a slender silhouette with, in contrast to current productions marked by straight bows, a slight thrust from the bow. It should also be noted the succession of portholes quite close to the surface of the water, suggesting a beautiful brightness in the cabins of the lower deck.

Breathtaking view through the bay windows

After this first vision from afar, it is time to get on board. The organisation of the stern adopts a well-known and functional approach: a wide bathing platform and the opening of the dinghy garage allow you to enjoy the nautical pleasures, and why not make it a special meeting place right on the water with a pleasant set of armchairs and a coffee table. Then, one has just to climb a few steps and access the rear terrace of the main deck featuring a welcoming table for about ten guests. A small sideboard with a sink can be used to serve delicious dinners concocted by the chef. One can then enter the sheltered spaces, including a large saloon and dining room, which are warmer when the weather gets cooler, but without losing any of the view through the wide, almost full-height windows. At the far end of this space, the port door leads to a pantry and then to the galley, whose equipment is on a par with that of a Michelin-starred establishment, while the starboard door opens onto the lobby where the Majesty 120’s central staircase and access to the owner’s suite are located. This suite has everything you need for a serene and intimate stay. The windows on either side provide generous light, while the king-size bed is framed by a desk and a relaxation area. The shower room also extends across the entire width of the room, and its marble décor is enhanced by an interplay of mirrors to increase the sense of space.

A very attractive wheelhouse

The upper deck is accessible, for passengers, from the cockpit; the crew has its own access in the starboard pass. Depending on the sun, one can either take shelter in the aft saloon, or relax on the solarium and bench seat forward. Between these two convivial areas is the wheelhouse: with two comfortable armchairs positioned in front of a set of four screens and all the instrumentation needed to navigate and manage the yacht, you may be tempted to don the captain’s hat and give the order to cast off. In this respect, one may choose between two CAT C32B (2 x 2,400 hp) or two MTU 16V2000M96L (2 x 2,600 hp) diesel engines. The advertised top speed is in the region of 20 knots, but for those with a thirst for long cruises, a reduced speed of 12 knots allows to cover around 1,000 miles. Enough to cruise the Mediterranean, for instance, with complete peace of mind. Finally, for the captain’s comfort and ease of command, his cabin is next to the wheelhouse.

A sober and soft decoration

A flight of steps, towards the back of the upper deck, leads to the sundeck. Whatever the unit, this place is often associated with privacy and stunning views. This is of course the case on board the Majesty 120 with all the facilities and accessories likely to reinforce this “place to be” status. An elegant teak slatted hard-top ceiling covers the middle section: here, seated at the bar on high stools or in deep benches, passengers can enjoy cocktails and small snacks. The decor is sober, using wood and soft, round shapes, perfect for feeling in touch with the surrounding nature. Out of the shade created, warmth aficionados can choose the deckchairs at the back or the front solarium surrounding a Jacuzzi where they will find a welcome coolness.

To welcome family and friends

Much lower on board, the lower deck offers a capacity rarely found on units of equivalent size since there are no less than five cabins waiting for passengers. At the bow, a VIP enjoys a high level of service with a central double bed framed by a desk and a sofa. The decor is light and airy to create a cosy, enveloping atmosphere, helped by the natural light provided by the side windows. A dressing room and a private shower room are also available for the privileged guests of the place. But other guests can rest assured that all the cabins – two doubles and two twins – have been treated with the same care, using the same materials, the same finishes and the same design, with high-contrast lines on the ceiling and partitions. And just as we imagined, the openings in the hulls provide clarity and a direct view of the sea. On the same level, but with separate access, the crew quarter comprises three cabins with bunk beds, each with its own private washroom, as well as a relaxation mess. The guest cabins are cleverly separated from the engine room. Without being ostentatious in her fittings, or seeking innovation that is sometimes misplaced, this Majesty 120 relies above all on her ability to welcome the owner couple, their family and their friends as they should, with a beautiful harmony and a successful balance between the interior and exterior living spaces.
