Yacht Class n°41 (june-jully-august 2025)
Greenline Yachts
Behind her elegant lines, this 58-foot yacht embodies the future of sustainable yachting, without forgetting comfort on board. The Slovenian shipyard has designed a deck layout and interiors that have been meticulously thought through, making this a great success.
Since 2008, Greenline Yachts has been specialising in the production of eco-friendly yachts. A particularly growth sector in recent years, the range has expanded to include no fewer than 8 hybrid-powered models. From the 39-footer to the latest 58 Fly, Greenline combines elegant design with meticulous interiors and first-rate ecological features. Presented at the Cannes Yachting Festival, the Greenline 58 Fly boasts a sleek, modern silhouette, overlooked by a vast flybridge. Despite her very contemporary design, the unit has a certain trawler air about her. Micad Engineering is responsible for the naval architecture of this 19-metre yacht, positioning the vessel’s centre of gravity low in the water to reduce roll at anchor and when sailing. The design uses fabrics made from recycled fibres and foam made from recycled PET, to reduce the construction footprint.
A flybridge to match
Once on board, we head up to the flybridge: this 30 m2 space, overlooked by a generous hard-top, has a number of features that are particularly appreciated by passengers, such as the helm station, where they can share the sailing experience and enjoy an uninterrupted view of the marine environment. The relaxation area allows guests to stretch out on a bench seat on the starboard side or to sit around a table seating six on the port side. The galley, installed aft of this area, reduces the number of trips to the main deck and enables passengers’ needs to be met quickly. It is worth highlighting the effort made to provide a very safe space, whether by closing the staircase with a companionway cover or by the high stainless steel railings. The carbon hard-top offers appreciable protection, both at anchor and when sailing, against the sun and the elements. A few steps down, and we are on the main deck. The stern of the Greenline 58 Fly features a very large hydraulic bathing platform, and a telescopic gangway for elegantly lowering the boat onto the quay, once again in complete serenity. At the stern, a seat facing the sea conceals a vast storage area for swimming games. Seating around a table for six allows you to enjoy a dining area, with the sea at your fingertips. Passing through the side decks, we find a relaxation area at the bow, which can comfortably accommodate three people on its solarium. Two benches surround the anchor locker, giving extra privacy to this area, which will undoubtedly be one of this unit’s most popular.
Aesthetic and functional
In the saloon, a cosy atmosphere is the order of the day. While there is plenty of natural light, the indirect lighting in the ceiling and the rounded furniture create a relaxing atmosphere conducive to socialising on board. The aft galley, a Greenline custom, opens wide to the stern, creating a seamless transition between interior and exterior spaces. The U-shaped table in the saloon can be lowered to create a sitting area while sailing, or to create a lounge area, well away from the outside world. Designer Marco Casali has succeeded in reconciling aesthetics and functionality to produce a high-quality result. Beige carpeted steps lead down to the lower deck, which in its standard version can accommodate three cabins and two bathrooms. The master, located aft, occupies the full width of the boat, around 5 metres, and has a headroom of almost 2 metres. The volume is substantial, as is the light that penetrates through the large portholes, giving an uninterrupted view of the marine environment. King-size bed, dressing table, storage space, dressing room… comfort is absolute and deserves a bathroom to match, with extensive use of wood and porcelain. At the very front, the VIP cabin is no exception to the standards of refinement imposed by Greenline Yachts, and even has the luxury of rivalling the master in terms of habitability and comfort. Below deck, there are three possible layouts, with the option of adding a crew cabin, enhancing the deck layout with a twin-bedded cabin, or transforming the guest cabin into a vast office.
A range of 20 miles in electric mode
Before discussing the propulsion capabilities of the Greenline 58 Fly, it is worth mentioning the on-board energy production generated by no fewer than 11 solar panels. Distributed between the flybridge and the hard-top, these generate up to 4 kW of energy, enabling the on-board domestic appliances to function without the nuisance of a conventional generator. Those who like to anchor in hot places and need air conditioning will appreciate the absence of noise and vibration. As for the engine room, and of course the battery bank located in the centre of the boat below the waterline, the standard engine offers two 675 hp Cummins diesels available with the Hybrid drive system, or the optional Caterpillar dual diesel version with 1,000 hp each. In this configuration, passengers can enjoy cruising at speeds of up to 30 knots. In 100% electric mode, top speed is 7.5 knots and range at 6 knots is 20 miles. That is enough to move easily from one anchorage to another – although not too far away – without disturbing the peace and quiet of the area or the passengers. Thanks to these technologies developed and implemented by the shipyard, the Greenline 58 Fly offers all the attributes of a modern yacht geared towards responsible yachting. With its elegant lines, modular deck layout and seductive interiors, this 58-footer has all the qualities of a yacht that will appeal to families looking for safe, comfortable cruising, as well as those looking for long stays on board.
